Adelaide United Youth face off against Adelaide Olympic in Round 9 of the South Australian National Premier League 2018 Season, at the Smith Partners Stadium this Sunday.

An excellent performance against Para Hills Knights in Round 8 of the National Premier League saw the Reds extend their run of consecutive victories to three.

The Young Reds ran rampant against Para Hills putting three past the Knights, with goals coming from Apostolos Stametolopoulos, Carlo Armiento and Lachlan Brook.

Round 8’s Man of the Match, Carlo Armiento, was extremely happy with the Young Reds performance against Para Hills, in what were tough circumstances on the day.

“It was a different game, very hot conditions and the boys came out and started a bit slow,” he said.

“Towards the end we got going and finished our chances to get the three points, as well as three wins in a row.

“There’s definitely confidence around the group now after that, and we know we have to keep pushing, it’s all about consistency, with another challenge coming up this week.”

Armiento was reflective on his own performance though, not contented with only the one goal to his name.

“The last few weeks have been good for me performance wise, and I could have had a few goals in that game, but I just needed to take my chances,” he said.

The Young Reds aim to keep their great run of form going this week against Adelaide Olympic, in what promises to be a tough between sixth and seventh on the NPLSA ladder.

Armiento believes that United are raring to go and full of confidence after their series of great performances.

“We go into every game thinking we can win, and we have to put in one-hundred per cent every time,” he said.

“Olympic is going to be a hard one, but if we put in I know we can come away with the three points.”

Armiento was also sure that with the great depth of the United squad, they would be able to shock teams with their quality off the bench.

“Bringing players off the bench each week, Pacifique (Niyongabire), myself and even (Charlie) Deveraux the other week, there’s a lot of depth and it’s great for the squad,” he said.

“Not only performance wise but it pushes the boys to be better each week because they know their spot isn’t set in stone.”
