The Adelaide United Youth Team will travel to Queensland to face Brisbane Roar’s Youth in Round 7 of the Foxtel National Youth League on Saturday morning.
The Young Reds will be looking to secure their fourth win in a row when they face off against Brisbane Roar this weekend.
United currently sits five points clear on top of the Foxtel National Youth League ladder, after defeating the reigning Champions, Melbourne City, last weekend.
Head Coach of the Adelaide United Youth, Michael Valkanis, expects yet another difficult task in playing the Roar, despite defeating them 1-0 three weeks ago.
“We are really looking forward to this match; we believe Brisbane Roar Youth are a very good team with some fantastic players,” said Valkanis.
“It was quite a challenge when we met them at home a few weeks ago. They are a good attacking side and a team that plays very similar to our style in trying to keep possession.
“So it’s going to be an interesting battle between two teams that want to dominate in keeping the ball and playing attacking football, so it’s the one that does that best that will end up winning this match.”
Speaking on how his side is looking to approach the match, Valkanis made it clear that his squad is full of confidence after a fantastic start to the competition.
“We are pretty confident in the way we are performing because there is a lot of confidence around the place including training,” said Valkanis.
“The boys are really applying themselves which is fantastic and the environment is very positive so that really gives me confidence in the team when we fly out to Brisbane this weekend.
“As a coach when you see the way the team is training and the way the team is physically and mentally prepared, you have to be pleased and our confidence is certainly up at the moment so it gives us great momentum heading into this week’s match.”
The Young Reds currently sit in first position of Conference A, whilst Brisbane Roar currently sits fourth with a six-point gap separating the two sides.
