The Adelaide United Football Club in conjunction with the Northern Territory government have developed an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) youth program that focuses on girls and boys from 11 to 20 years of age.

The Adelaide United Football Club in conjunction with the Northern Territory government have developed an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) youth program that focuses on girls and boys from 11 to 20 years of age.

The first stage of this program named Project One will focus on ATSI youth in Years 5 to Years 9 at the following community/sites:
• Alice Springs – Tangentyere
• Alice Springs – Football in Central Australia (FICA)
• Hermannsberg
• Tennant Creek
• Yulara
• Santa Teresa
• Ti Tree
• Yuendumu

The program will include a 10 week program conducted within their sites, culminating with 15 boys and 15 girls being selected to undertake a camp in Alice Springs in August in conjunction with Adelaide United playing Melbourne Heart in Alice Springs.

The Five Main Pillars that the entire program is built are:
• School Attendance
• Culture
• Employment
• Gender Equality
• Participation

The program will commence this month, with program information booklets, apparel and training program to be distributed with the assistance of our development Officer in Mid-May. As mentioned earlier a contingent of AUFC staff will also be in Central Australia to assist in the roll out of this ground breaking program.
