Last month members from Adelaide United’s senior squad attended the third edition of the Playford United Invitational Soccer Tournament.
Hosted by Playford International College, the City of Playford and Adelaide United at Ridley Reserve West in Elizabeth, seven schools from Adelaide’s northern suburbs took part in the event.
More than 200 students, girls and boys, from Year’s 8 through to 10, attended the carnival from Playford, St Paul’s, Roma Mitchell, Parafield Gardens, Salisbury East, Para Hills and Craigmore.
Playford proved victorious in the Year 8/9 Boys competition, St. Paul’s won the Year 10 Boys section, while in the Year 8/9/10 Girls division Roma Mitchell were triumphant.
Riley McGree, Michaël Maria, George Blackwood, Ryan Strain, and Isaac Richards all came down from the Club’s training base to show their support and cheer on the participants, while stopping for photos and signing autographs.
It was a great day all in all with lots of activities from foot dart and foot snooker challenges, to music provided by Northern Sound System, as well as free Chobani yoghurt on offer. Zorich Group sports vouchers were also distributed and Headspace was present to raise awareness about mental health.
A delicious BBQ was also cooked by students with Channel 9 coming down to run a story about the event and interviewed McGree and Blackwood which aired during the Saturday night bulletin.
