Adelaide United will line-up for its first pre-season match ahead of the 2020/21 season against Adelaide Blue Eagles at Marden Sports Complex on Wednesday, 4 November.
The match will be the first under Head Coach, Carl Veart, and his Assistant, Ross Aloisi, and will also be the first time the Reds don their new home playing kit by the Club’s Global Technical Partner, UCAN.
Despite Blue Eagles currently sitting in ninth position on the South Australian National Premier League (NPL) table, Veart says the opportunity to face opposition who are in the midst of their season will prove a definite test for his squad.
“We’re a few weeks into our pre-season preparations now, and obviously still a couple of months away from the A-League season getting underway, but to have locked-in a friendly with Blue Eagles will really help our progression,” Veart explained.
“There’s only so much you can do in training sessions, but a relatively significant part of preparing for the season is gaining match fitness.
“Obviously there’s no FFA Cup this season for us to compete in either, so the opportunity to play competitive matches is a little scarce.
“But Blue Eagles are a strong side who are still playing competitive matches, so will be sharp and fit.
“It’s the type of test we need at the moment, so we can see where we are positioned and how much further we have to push the boys to get them to the level we require from them.”
Reds fans are encouraged to come to Marden Sports Complex for a 7:00pm kick-off, with the Club’s new UCAN merchandise available for purchase before and during the match. Entry to this match is free for fans with gates open from 6:00pm, however capacity is restricted to the first 1,000 attendants due to COVID-19 protocols.
