Adelaide United Women has recorded back-to-back wins over Perth Glory Women to move into equal second on the Westfield W-League 2020/21 ladder, following a 2-1 victory.
Fiona Worts opened the scoring in clinical style early into proceedings before Caitlin Doeglas had the hosts level after the re-start.
However, Emily Condon proved to be the thorn in Perth’s side as she scored for the second straight game with a back-post header to seal all three points.
Mallory Weber was the architect behind both goals and continued her excellent form in her second year back with the Club.
The result extended United’s unbeaten streak over the Glory to six matches and their first triumph in Western Australia since January 2017.
Adelaide made a fast start to the match and took the lead inside six minutes when the two imports combined.
United States forward Weber released a perfectly weighted pass for Worts after some incisive link-up play and she calmly placed her finish past goalkeeper Lily Alfeld.
The Reds had a golden opportunity to add to its lead in the 22nd minute but Emily Condon missed the open goal after pouncing on a defensive error and rounding the goalkeeper.
At the other end, Gemma Craine was looking to get in behind for Perth but largely cut an isolated figure.
Charlotte Grant’s dynamic presence caused several problems for the Glory defence with a number of marauding runs.
Condon continued to orchestrate the midfield with aplomb, highlighted by a brilliantly clipped through ball over the top for Weber.
The visitors began the second-half in similar fashion to the first, dictating possession and looking to create chances.
But against the run of play, Perth equalised courtesy of a devastating one-two move involving Marianna Tabain and Doeglas.
Not dejected, Stenta’s side responded, desperate to regain the ascendancy. Georgia Campagnale was spectacularly denied when Alfeld tipped her strike from distance onto the bar.
However, a minute later the Reds would deservingly hit the front. Weber notched her second assist of the evening with a pin-point cross to the back stick for Condon to calmly head home on 74 minutes.
