Adelaide United suffered a 4-0 defeat to a clinical Melbourne Victory in Round 7 of the Westfield W-League at Lakeside Stadium on Saturday.
Reds Head Coach, Ivan Karlovic, made a single change to his Starting XI that drew with Melbourne City last week, promoting Chelsie Dawber in place of Adriana Jones, a late exclusion. Sarah Willacy was back in goals as Eliza Campbell remains unavailable.
Despite a promising start from Adelaide, Victory were able to capitalise on a goal mouth scramble, as Angela Beard’s corner is crossed over the line from Natasha Dowie’s touch.
Jeon Ga-Eul put home Victory’s second of the match, after Dowie made her way into the box to cut-back and assist the goal.
The hosts were up by three at the break, as Lia Privitelli fired past Reds’ ‘keeper, Sarah Willacy.
In the second period, Dowie scored her second to add to the score-line, with a neat header.
United pushed to paint the final coat of Red to the city of Melbourne, but Victory’s first-half display put the game out of reach.
