Adelaide United have been drawn against Sydney FC in the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 16.

The Reds defeated Darwin Olympic 6-1 in their Round of 32 clash at the Darwin Football Stadium to progress to the next round.

In what will be a rematch of last year’s Quarter Final, the Reds will face a tough Sydney FC side at home as they look to reach the quarter final stage of the Westfield FFA Cup for the second successive year.

Adelaide United and Sydney FC contested a heated quarter final in 2014, with the Reds progressing after an extra time brace courtesy of Bruce Djite at Allianz Stadium.

Head Coach Guillermo Amor welcomed the tough draw at home.

“It will be a good test for the boys against a very strong team, one we are looking forward to,” said Amor.

“We won the FFA Cup last season by beating all A-League opposition, so we have to be comfortable with this.

“We have the team and the mentality to go all the way in the FFA Cup and we will continue the journey again at home in a few weeks.”

Details of dates, times and venues will be confirmed on Friday 14 August 2014.
