George Blackwood’s opener was cancelled out by Jay O’Shea deep into the second half.
The first half was a closely fought midfield battle that led to few genuine chances for either side.
Nestory Irankunda was introduced following half time and looked to wreak havoc on the Roar defence.
The electric winger did his best to put the Reds into a two-goal lead, however missed a golden opportunity when he squandered a one-on-one chance after breaking clear of the Brisbane defence.
Isaías was given his second yellow card and sent from the field in the 89th minute. Minutes later Javi López was judged to have brought down Carlo Armiento in the box, which the Roar converted from the spot.
