Reds’ “Hiro” to remain for further two years

Adelaide United is delighted to announce forward, Hiroshi Ibusuki, has signed a two-year extension with the Club, the Japanese contracted until the completion of the 2023/24 season.

Having joined the Reds in January 2022, Ibusuki made an immediate impact at Hindmarsh, scoring an 84th minute equaliser in a 2-2 stalemate against Melbourne City – his debut match for United. The 31-year-old then went on to score a further five goals in 21 appearances for the remainder of the 2021/22 season.

Speaking on re-signing with the Club, Ibusuki said: “It is very exciting for my family and I to know our future is in South Australia for the next two seasons.

“We love the city and I have really enjoyed being part of this great team since joining earlier this year.

“As a Club, we were very close to making it past the Semi Final, but fell short after a very positive season for everyone.

“I am confident in our hunger as a team to take what we learned last season and use it to improve for next season, so we can be successful for our great fans.”

Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, said: “I’m very happy that we have been able to retain Hiroshi for another two seasons.

“Since joining the Club, Hiroshi has fitted in amongst the boys seamlessly and has been a true professional – something a lot of our younger players have taken note of and learned from.

“His experience and the unique option he provides us by leading the line, is crucial to the style of football I want our boys to play, so to know he will be one of our key figureheads moving forward is excellent.”
