Adelaide United kick started its A-League 2020/21 season with a 0-0 draw against Western United, but there were a lot of promising signs according to goalkeeper James Delianov.
Delianov is confident the Reds can build on their performance when they host Melbourne City at Coopers Stadium on Sunday.
The shot-stopper impressed on debut, producing a flawless display.
“I felt like I did okay, I was happy for the clean sheet but spewing that we didn’t get the win, overall I was pleased,” Delianov told reporters at a press conference at Adelaide Airport.
“We created some good chances so there’s definitely plenty of positives to take from the game.”

He admitted he was a little nervous going into the game but any anxious thoughts quickly subsided after completing a few passes and making a save.
“I didn’t touch the ball for the first seven minutes, so that kind of eased me once I got on the ball,” he said.
“But definitely those moments in the game build confidence for sure.”
The 21-year-old faces another former club in City in Matchweek 2, and said his approach will not change.
Delianov had spent the majority of his youth career with Melbourne where he played one senior game before making the switch to the Green and Black last year.
“I’m just going to take it like another game,” he said.
“You know some boys and their traits and their habits which makes it a little bit easier.
“But I’m just going to prepare the same and hopefully we can go in there and get the win.”
