Reds must quickly move on after difficult loss says Worts

Fiona Worts

Adelaide United suffered its first defeat in four matches after a frustrating 1-0 loss to Perth Glory in contentious circumstances.

Fiona Worts appeared to have equalised for the Reds in the 12th minute after falling behind, however it was disallowed for offside.

Worts was left confused by the decision in a post-match interview with Paramount+.

“I was aware I might have been offside and then I looked to the lino (assistant referee) and she didn’t have her flag up,” she said after Adelaide suffered its first setback in eight meetings against Perth.

“… I had no idea what was going on I just saw the ball close to the goal and put it in, disappointing though.”

The 26-year-old said all they can do now is forget about the result and move on and switch their focus to Brisbane Roar, who they face on Sunday.

Adelaide remains in the top four for now but have the same amount of points as the Glory (18) with four matches remaining in the regular season.

“I mean we’ve got a pretty quick turnaround,” she continued.

“So I think we just need to put it behind us and put it down to a bad day and pick ourselves up and go again.”
