Reds promote promising duo to senior men’s squad

Adelaide United is pleased to announce Luka Jovanovic and Panashe Madanha have signed scholarship contracts with the Club until the end of the 2023/24 season.

The pair have enjoyed impressive seasons in this year’s local National Premier League with the Young Reds and have been upgraded accordingly.

Jovanovic, 17, has scored nine goals in 17 games this campaign and primarily plays as a striker, but can operate comfortably on the wing or as an attacking midfielder.

Speaking on his promotion to the senior side, Jovanovic said: “I’m very happy to be signing for my hometown team.

“Adelaide United is one of the best clubs in the country at giving young players opportunities, so there is no better environment than here to improve.

“I’ll be doing everything I can to make the most of my chance and know the hard work has just begun.”

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Madanha has scored six goals in 17 appearances and is a winger, though has occasionally featured as an auxiliary right-back for Airton Andrioli’s side.

After putting pen-to-paper on his scholarship contract, Madanha said: “I’m really excited to be joining Adelaide United’s first-team on a permanent basis.

“I’m grateful to be playing for the team I grew up supporting and learning from coaches and players with great experience.

“I know this is just the beginning of my footballing journey and I’m looking forward to working hard and giving my best for the Club.”
