Stenta delighted after another dominant display

After Adelaide United won its third consecutive match, Adrian Stenta applauded his team’s outing against Newcastle Jets at Coopers Stadium on Friday.

The Reds produced a convincing 3-0 victory thanks to a brace from Fiona Worts and Chelsie Dawber’s penalty.

Stenta was thrilled with his side’s form after back-to-back 3-0 triumphs and three successive clean sheets to move to 18 points after nine matches and into equal second on the Liberty A-League table.

“I think it was a really good performance,” Stenta said in a post-match press conference.

“Really good to build on what we did last week and continue to improve and I think we played in a confident manner and made the game comfortable for us.”

However, the boss admitted the only qualm was not killing the game off in the first-half, which somewhat invited Newcastle back into the game for a 15 minute spell after the interval.

Thankfully, however, United eventually put the result beyond doubt with two goals in a four minute period.

“That was the only thing that concerned me a little bit was maybe we didn’t make the most of our dominance in the first-half,” he said.

“And at 1-0 it’s always a tricky scoreline, but we managed to see the game out and to finish with a couple more goals was excellent.”

Stenta reserved praise for both goal-scorers and believed they operate well together.

“I’m really happy for her,” Stenta said about Worts after her double.

“Every striker wants to score goals, but I’m really pleased with the work she’s doing in the build-up to our goals as well.

“So she’s forming a really nice partnership with Chelsie Dawber and they complement each other and happy with both of them.”
