Adelaide United Head Coach, Adrian Stenta, said he was content with his side’s showing against Brisbane Roar on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds’ efforts were undone by a late Roar goal in the 78th minute and, despite a number of quality chances, United weren’t able to find the back of the net.
Speaking to media post-game, Stenta assessed the performance and highlighted the necessity to continue working hard.
Stenta said:
“I was really happy with the performance.
“In the first half I thought some of our delivery in the box was a little bit poor, which probably meant that we weren’t able to capitalise on some of the really good positions we got into and the amount of possession we had.
“But I feel like we were in control of the game for majority of it, but if you can’t put the ball in the back of the net you can’t win matches.
“It’s an industry where you get judged on results and I’m more than happy to put my hand up and take responsibility for where we are at the moment.
“I’ve been talking to the group about: can we keep showing improvement, can we keep showing signs of progress, and can we keep leaving it all out there on the park?
“And eventually it’s going to turn for us.
“When that is, I’m not sure, but as long as we’re putting in strong performances like that, because I can’t really be critical of my team.”
