Adelaide United Head Coach, Adrian Stenta, says his squad is prepared and ready for another tough encounter with Wellington Phoenix.
In what is the first trip across the ditch for Stenta and his team, the Reds’ Head Coach spoke from New Zealand about the fixture.
New preparations:
“It was a long day of travel (Thursday), but it’s good to get here a day early and to train and prepare for (Saturday’s) game.
“So we’re really, really looking forward to it because it’s a new experience for this group.
“Our build up for the game will be the same.
“We will train the day before and obviously prepare to play.
“The players have just been looking forward to getting out on the park and getting back to what it is that they do best, which is playing football.”
Recovering from Wanderland:
“We’ve recovered really well.
“We were really happy to get the win because it’s always tough to get wins in this league and especially away from home.
“We felt like we had moments in the game where we had opportunities to put the game to bed, but we weren’t able to do that.
“But it was another really strong defensive performance by the whole team and that’s what’s been really pleasing across the first four rounds is our defensive structures have really held up well.”
Tackling the Nix:
“I really like Wellington as a side.
“They’re a side that is quite aggressive defensively and likes to press and try and win the ball, and they play good football too.
“If you have a look back at their games and their results, I don’t think they’re truly reflective of the team’s football ability.
“We’re expecting a really tough challenge and we had some great games against them last year and I’m sure this year will be no different.”
