Adelaide United’s draw against Melbourne Victory on Saturday night was the third consecutive one-all draw between the sides including a pre-season stalemate.

Funnily enough, four of the past six games between the sides have ended one-all.

The result maintained a unique unbeaten record for the Reds in away trips to Melbourne against the Victory since 2020. The last time the Victory took the spoils in Melbourne was in February 2020 when the game finished 2-1. The Reds have claimed two wins and three draws in the five encounters in Melbourne since.

Here are some other stats that will impress your friends:

  • After a quiet season by his high standards in 2022/23, Ben Halloran is back to his dangerous best, creating plenty of scoring chances for his teammates. After three matches, he has created eight chances, which ranks him third in the A-League for chances created this season.
  • Jonny Yull covered a total of 12848 metres against the Victory, the longest distance covered by a current Adelaide United player in a single match in the last two seasons, surpassing the 12,505 meters covered by Zach Clough in the Round 2 win over Melbourne City. Clough coered 6392mts in the second half at AAMI Park, the most by a Red in the past two campaigns.

  • Adelaide United has been extremely disciplined so far this season having recorded an average of 9.3 fouls against per game, second only to Western Sydney with eight per game.  Melbourne Victory is averaging a league-worst 13.7 fouls per game including 13 on Saturday night. • The Reds’ four yellow cards received in the opening three games sees them ranked equal best with Sydney. Macarthur has had nine yellow cards to be the worst offending side so far.
  • Adelaide United has started a season with seven points from the first three games for the fifth time in its history and first time since 2014/15. The club has previously achieved the feat in 2003/04, 2005/06, 2008/09, 2014/15.
