Adelaide United attacked Zach Clough’s double against Macarthur on Monday took him to the top of the leaderboard for the most A-League goals and assists this season.
Clough now has four goals and three assists in his six games, equalling the goal involvements of Melbourne Victory forward Bruno Formaroli, who has seven goals.
That tally matches his total for the preceding year and a half with the Reds.
Clough’s 18 chances created this season ranks second in the competition only behind the 26 created by Brisbane’s Jay O’Shea.
With the announcement of Clough signing a two- year contract extension on Wednesday we thought it would be an opportune time to share some other stats around the Englishman’s time with the Reds:
- Clough has scored at least one goal or had one assist in eight consecutive games – a record for Adelaide United. That tally includes four goals and three assists in the A-League and two goals in two Australia Cup games.
- In his six A-League games this season, Clough has covered an impressive 71,908 metres – the highest covered by any Adelaide United player this campaign. That’s an average of 11,984 metres per game.
- Clough’s brace on Monday night against Macarthur was his first in the A-League.
- The Manchester-born midfielder’s three assists this season is second only in the A-League to teammate Ben Halloran’s four.
- Clough leads the Reds for a number of stats this A-League Men’s season including passes into the box (48), chances created (18), recoveries in the opposition third (6) and shots on target (6).
