Adelaide United has had its season end at the hands of the Central Coast Mariners.
Two goals early in the second half saw the Mariners win the tie 4-1 on aggregate, after taking a 2-1 lead into the second leg of the Semi Final.
Befitting the game’s mammoth stakes, both sides started at a blistering pace.
The Reds looked likely to break the deadlock in the first half, however Zach Clough’s effort struck the upright.
United were lively throughout the match and pressured their opposition well throughout the opening 45 minutes, but it was the Mariners who opened the scoring with a quick double.
The 2-0 result on the night ended Carl Veart’s side’s 2022/23 season – the third consecutive season to conclude in at the Semi Final stage.
