Following from an astonishing display of support during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Adelaide United is thrilled to announce it will partner with the South Australian Government and clubs from four other sporting codes to continue the momentum and drive crowds to women’s sporting events across the state.

Adelaide United will join forces with Port Adelaide, the Adelaide Crows, Adelaide Strikers, Adelaide Lightning, and Adelaide Thunderbirds to further drive crowds to women’s sport with unique ticketing and membership offers as well as marketing and communications collaboration.

All clubs will encourage their own members and fans to support a key game for the other teams with a special ticketing offer, all in an effort to encourage as many South Australians as possible to see some of the best athletes in the world and further highlight the remarkable spectacle of female sport.

For Adelaide United, its ‘Power of Her’ match will be the Club’s season opener at Coopers Stadium on October 15, when the Reds take on Canberra United at 2:30pm ACDT.

Speaking about the initiative, Katrine Hildyard, Minister for Sport and Minister for Women said: “The Power of Her Women in Leadership symposium was so powerful; it saw more than 1,000 people come together to advance gender equality and open doors for future generations.

“Attendees left determined to advance enduring change together that makes a difference in the lives of girls and women.

“Through this powerful step forward, these outstanding South Australian women’s teams will absolutely advance change together. I am incredibly thankful for their willingness to get together – when women support other women, powerful change is possible.

“The Power of Her aimed to create a lasting legacy through harnessing the momentum and energy from the FIFA Women’s World Cup. I am thrilled that this group is using that energy to collectively bring more supporters to women’s sport.

“By selling out these games, more people will witness the powerful change in attitude that is possible when we see women being celebrated for being strong, powerful and talented on their particular playing pitch.

“When we witness and celebrate the strength and power of our female sporting stars, it transforms the way women and the roles they can play are seen – if she can see it, she can absolutely be it!”

Adelaide United Chief Executive Officer, Nathan Kosmina, added: “All Australians have recently seen the power of football and women’s sport with the Matildas’ amazing performance at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

“The way the tournament captivated an entire nation’s attention is unquestionable, achieving record audiences in stadiums and on television – records not only for women’s sport, but for sport and entertainment in general.

“Adelaide United is proud to partner with some of South Australia’s premier sporting clubs to bring women’s sport to as many casual, aspiring and fanatical sports fans as possible, and showcase the amazing athletes and spectacle they deliver.”
