Dear Adelaide United family,
This morning Football Federation Australia (FFA) made the decision to postpone the remaining rounds of the Hyundai A-League season as a result of the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision comes into effect immediately and was supported by all Hyundai A-League clubs. Whilst the league is now postponed, FFA will monitor the situation and will provide an update on 22 April.
Our players, coaches and football department support staff were all notified of the decision at our Playford Training Centre this morning. Our players understand the significant nature of the situation and will be ready and willing to return to football when the time is right. While the players are disappointed not being able to play for you at this point in time, they all understand and appreciate that the nature of this decision is based on circumstances and considerations far greater than football.
While the integrity of the competition is important for all of us in the football community, the health and safety of all of our players, coaches, staff, their families and all of our members and fans is more important at this time.
The full impact of COVID-19 on the football community is not yet known but what I can say with certainty is it will change the landscape of football in Australia. As such, I’d again like to thank all our members and fans for their unwavering support in recent weeks. We are working tirelessly through the impacts on membership and commercial activities, and we will continue to provide you with regular updates.
Finally, it will be remise of me not make special mention of all our partners, especially our premier partner, Flinders University, and platinum partners Starfish Developments, McDonald’s, RAA, Macron, and Southern Cross Austereo who continue to support the Club, along with our Coopers Stadium’s landlord, Adelaide Venue Management. During these times partnerships are valued via the strength of the relationship, so please continue to support those who have supported us. We know all of our partners are facing similar challenges and we offer to them any assistance we may be able to give in order to get through this terribly difficult time together.
I hope you all remain safe and healthy, and look forward to welcoming football back into our lives as soon as we can responsibly do so.
Yours sincerely,
Nathan Kosmina
