Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, says his side’s ‘crazy’ 5-1 win over Wellington Phoenix is reward for the Reds’ consistent efforts and belief.
United are now on a 10-game unbeaten run, rocketing them up the standings on the Isuzu UTE A-League ladder as a result.
Speaking to media post-game, Veart reflected on the performance of his boys, admitting he wasn’t completely content with the performance.
Veart said:
“It was a bit of a crazy game.
“It was very open and both teams had plenty opportunities and, fortunately for us, we took our chances.
“We’re happy that we got five goals, but, the coach in me (says) we were a little bit too open at times.
“They’re a good side and they kept fighting until the end.
“It’s good to be in this position and it’s good to be scoring the goals, but we still have a lot of work to do.
“We’re fortunate that most of our games to come are at home, but we have a tough trip away to Wanderers next.
“All we can do is look after ourselves, keep scoring goals, keep picking up points, and hopefully everyone behind us drops points
“We’ve been very consistent with our messaging and the way we want to play.
“Once you get that confidence, and the boys have bucket loads of confidence, so it just falls that way for you at times.
“So we have that belief and you could see that tonight – we kept pushing and kept working hard, creating some great opportunities.”
