Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, spoke of his delight to media, following the Reds’ 2-0 win over Perth Glory on Monday evening.
Goals from Lachlan Barr and Ben Halloran saw United overcome their western rivals in front of more than 10,000 fans.
The win puts to bed a difficult period for Veart’s men, who were winless in their previous three matches.
The game overall:
“It’s always great when you win, especially at home, and keep a clean sheet as well.
“Perth are a difficult side to play against.
“They defend very well and get a lot of numbers behind the ball, so we had to be patient and I thought we were good in the first half just didn’t create enough clear cut chances for our liking.
“I think it’s a main problem in world football because a lot of teams now have those blocks (of defenders).
“But we’re fortunate enough that we’ve got some really good quality in that attacking half with Craig Goodwin on one side, Ben Halloran on the other side, and now Zach Clough in the middle, which gives us a lot of opportunities to break those blocks down.
“Credit to the boys because they stuck to our game plan and got the three points.
“There’s a lot of positives to take from the game and hopefully that carries on and for the rest of the season.”
Squad changes:
“Ethan was just a squad rotation and Javi has got a little bit of general soreness, so we thought it best to just rest him for tonight.
