Carl Veart reiterated the importance of capturing Tomi Juric’s signature after the 29-year-old agreed to join Adelaide United for the A-League 2020/21 season.
Veart said in order to realistically compete for titles, having a first-class striker is fundamental.

Juric fits that profile and has been a productive scorer during his time at Western Sydney Wanderers, in the Eredivisie with Roda JC, at FC Luzern in Switzerland and with the Socceroos.
“It’s very important, to win championships you need a quality number nine,” Veart claimed.
“And that’s what Tomi is, he just doesn’t score goals, he links the play up and that’s the type of striker that we need.
“Someone that can play with the other players and provide assists as well so that’s something that he’s very good at as well.
“When he became available Bruce and I spoke, that’s why it was so important that we got him.”

Having spent the past two weeks in quarantine, Veart remained coy if Juric would be available for Matchweek 1 against Western United.
He said there is no need to rush him into the side to risk an unnecessary injury.
“We’ve got between now and the first game five or six training sessions so there’s no rush,” he continued.
“There’s 26 games to play so we’ve to make sure we look after Tomi with his fitness and make sure that he’s in good condition so he can give us his best effort.”
