Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, spoke to AUFC Media following his side’s 4-2 loss to FK Beograd on Tuesday evening.
In what was the second pre-season fixture his side has played ahead of the 2023/24 season, Veart fielded a very young and inexperienced side to face their National Premier League opposition.
Veart said:
“It was another good chance to get match minutes into the legs of the boys who are able to participate in the games.
“We’re still missing a lot of our senior players at the moment and only had about five players who weren’t teenagers and that reflected in our performance.
“It was good to have another closer look at these younger players and see where they can fit into our plans for the new season, but it’s important they keep working hard and their chance will come if they’re good enough.
“There’s still a bit of time before our Australia Cup game, which will allow us to get more boys ready for that game.
“We’re on-track to have both Craig (Goodwin) and Ryan (Kitto) available for that Australia Cup game too, which will be a big boost for us with their experience and qualities.
