Veart: We weren’t good enough

Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, admitted his team’s performance was not good enough against Newcastle Jets on Tuesday evening.

Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, admitted his team’s performance was not good enough against Newcastle Jets on Tuesday evening.

After his side succumbed to back-to-back defeats, following Tuesday’s loss to the Jets and the previous week’s defeat against Wellington Phoenix, Veart gave his thoughts on the game to Paramount+.

Veart’s take on the loss:

“We weren’t good enough tonight.

“I suppose (we were) too casual and too sloppy at times when we had possession of the ball.

“The first 20/25 minutes we were good.

“We created some good opportunities, but we just didn’t get enough bodies in the box.

“For the whole game, we just didn’t get enough people in the box.

“If you don’t get people in the box, you can’t score goals.

“It’s about taking care of the ball and not forcing things and moving the ball quickly.

“At times tonight, we were a little bit casual with the passing and it was a little bit slow and static; we were a bit static.

“So that makes it hard.

“They defended very well, made it difficult for us, and they played some good stuff as well

“It wasn’t one of our better performances, but there was enough, I think, there for us to have got something (from the game).”
