Carl Veart says his team are disappointed after Adelaide United’s defeat to Macarthur FC on Friday night, but insists the they won’t give the season up just yet.
Adelaide United conceded two late goals to a 10-man Macarthur. The result saw the Reds slip to ninth on the table at the end of the weekend.
Speaking to the media at Coopers Stadium after training on Monday, Veart discussed the disappointing result while also praising the fans for their support this season. He also touched on the future of both Isaías and Javi Lopez.
Veart on the incredible atmosphere on Friday night:
“I’ve said earlier this year, the loyalty the fans have shown to the playing group this year has been outstanding. We haven’t had a lot of success at home this year, but the support that they’ve given us all year has been outstanding, and we saw that on Friday night. We’ll bounce back and show that loyalty to the fans that they have shown us over the course of the season and we won’t give the season up just yet.”
Veart reflecting on the disappointment from Friday night and what’s to come on Tuesday:
“We’re disappointed that we didn’t come away with a win. But we have to focus on the next game now. We know Western are a good side, especially their new ground as well. So it’s going to be interesting to go there and see what their new set up is like and hopefully we can go in and put on a good performance.”
“If you don’t take the opportunities when they come and finish the game off, you always leave the door open, then good sides will take advantage of that. That’s gone now. We reflected on that yesterday. And now we’re fully focused on Western tomorrow.”
Veart on our Finals chances:
“It’s a difficult one. We just know we need to win games. We’ve known that now for a while. And that’s what we’re looking to do with our football, go there tomorrow night, and try and win the football match.”
Veart on Isaías and Javi Lopez:
“I think I’ve already said before that Isaías says he’s keen to play on again. Javi, you know, we’ll address that at the end of the season. He’s shown when he’s coming to the team, the last four or five games is how well he’s played and how desperate he is for the team to do well. And it’s important that we finish this season off, and then we can sit down and have those conversations.”
Adelaide United will face Western United at the newly opened Regional Football Facility at Tarneit on Tuesday evening with kick-off at 6:30pm (ACST). Fans can watch the match on Paramount+.
