Who is this man?

No he did not lose a bet and no, it is not time for the World-s Greatest Shave, but one of the Reds- stars well known for his head of hair has decided to take it all off.

Unbeknown to not only his team mates but also his wife, midfielder Zenon Caravella took to his hair with the clippers, but it was not just for a trim. The former Gold Coast United playmaker, who first entered the Hyundai A-League in 2005/06 with the now defunct New Zealand Knights, became highly recognisable among football fans for his dark locks.

But now for the first time in his life, the 28 year old has done what some, particularly men who are battling hair loss, would arguably consider inconceivable.

Caravella insisted there was no underlying reason behind his decision to cut off his locks, but he admits to feeling ‘liberated- by the fresh start.

“I was sick of having long hair and my wife said she wanted a new man so here I am,” Caravella joked on his new look.

“She was really upset and I-m in the doghouse at the moment. She was shocked but I-m growing it back and they say there is only two weeks between a bad and a good haircut.”

“It-s a fresh start, plus the skin on my head hasn-t seen the sun for 28 years so I thought it-s time to tan up.”

Having endured a disrupted start to the pre season due to groin soreness, Caravella is now back training with the main squad and maybe his new look has something to do about his fresh start with the Reds following his move from the Gold Coast at the end of last season.
