Young Reds lose at death at hands of Victory

Adelaide United Youth Team unfortunately lost out on 3-points in a trying Round 4 of the Foxtel Y-League 2017/18 Season, after a 1-0 loss to a strong Melbourne Victory side away from home at the Etihad Stadium.

What promised to be an exciting fixture turned into a very frustrating game for the Young Reds on Friday afternoon in the Foxtel Y-League.

A very tight game followed, with very few noteworthy moments and most clear chances coming from Melbourne Victory.

Isaac Richards was at his best to keep the scores tied in the first half with a huge save, palming away a shot from eventual goal scorer Pierce Waring.

Melbourne Victory’s Josh Hope fired a shot straight at Isaac Richards who made a vital save to keep the game 0-0 in the fifty-second minute.

Josh Hope almost capitalised on a United turn over deep in the back line. He fired his shot over the bar from inside the 18-yard box, keeping it 0-0.

The game finally found its opener in injury time after a miss-timed challenge saw Melbourne Victory awarded a penalty two minutes into added time.

Pierce Waring stepped up for what would be the final kick of the game to convert from the spot, securing three points for Victory on the day.

A good experience for the boys to play in a major stadium, but no doubt a frustrating result.
