Adelaide United FC embarked on a new initiative for the Hyundai A-League by bringing an away game to Hindmarsh Stadium for the benefit of the squad and supporters alike.
However, there are costs associated with making it possible, as the club has to compensate Gold Coast United for agreeing to transfer one of their home games. As such, this has to be treated as a stand alone match, over and above any rights attached to a season ticket.
Season ticket holders can reserve their seat at a discounted rate based on the season ticket rate, as opposed to normal match day prices. They also had a priority booking period to do so.
The success or otherwise of this initiative rests with supporters. Turn up in numbers on Friday night and the Club will continue to attempt to bring more games to Hindmarsh Stadium, the home of football for our Club. Conversely, low attendance numbers would most likely see the Club revert to the standard number of FFA designated home games in the season.
Home fans do impact on results and you only have to look at the example of teams in the Hyundai A-League this season that have rallied because of the passionate support they have received when playing at home. So now with this additional, stand alone home fixture, let-s do the same for the boys this week as they go up against Gold Coast United.
