8 Midfielder

Arguably the greatest player to represent Adelaide United, Isaías has his country’s style of football ingrained in his DNA. Having rubbed shoulders with the likes of Cesc Fàbregas and Gerard Piqué at La Masía, FC Barcelona’s esteemed youth academy, Isaías is consistently the club’s most accurate passer of the football. The 34-year-old deep-lying midfielder has the ability to find teammates with a level of ease and precision that was rarely seen prior to his arrival in the Isuzu UTE A-League. Having previously gained experience playing for La Liga side, Espanyol, Isaías became an essential cog in the Reds’ engine room from the moment he arrived at the club in 2013. Performing as consistently as anyone in the middle of the park, Isaías’ commitment, passion, and drive to win is blatant, regardless of whether he is going forward in search of the perfect through-ball, or if he is tracking back, breaking up an opposition counter-attack.

The Spanish maestro’s class has also seen him claim the Aurelio Vidmar Medal a record four times and won the award three straight years between 2017 and 2019. The midfielder, who became an Australian citizen in January 2019, departed the Club at the end of the 2018/19 campaign and spent two years in Qatar before returning to his second home in August 2021, signing a three-year contract.
