Adelaide United can confirm Emily Condon has departed the Club to pursue a new challenge.
Condon leaves as one of the most significant players in Adelaide United’s A-League Women’s history, sitting second on the Club’s all-time appearance list with 148 games and 23 goals in red.
The Club, Emily, and her representatives maintained proactive discussions about her future, however Emily has decided now is the right time to step away and take on a new challenge, which is fully supported by the Club.
A stalwart of the South Australian football community, Condon first represented Adelaide United as a 15-year-old, making her debut in a 2-0 win over Canberra United on 5 January 2014.
She went on to become one of the Club’s most recognisable and respected players, wearing the number eight shirt with distinction across more than a decade.
Condon scored her first goal for the Reds just six days after her debut and remains Adelaide United’s youngest A-League Women’s goalscorer.
In 2018, Condon earned her first Matildas cap against Portugal at the Algarve Cup, following an impressive season with Adelaide United.
She reached her 50th appearance for the Club in January 2019 against Canberra United, before becoming the first Adelaide United A-League Women’s player to reach 100 games in March 2024 against Central Coast Mariners.
Condon’s contribution was recognised throughout her time at the Club, including being named Adelaide United’s 2017/18 Westfield W-League Rising Star and the 2025/26 RAA Members’ A-League Women Player of the Year.
She also finished inside the top 10 of the 2025 Julie Dolan Medal voting, underlining her quality and influence during one of the Club’s strongest A-League Women campaigns.
Condon said Adelaide United would always hold a special place in her heart.
“The time has come for me to say goodbye to Adelaide United as I take on an exciting new challenge,” Condon said.
“From the moment I first stepped out onto the pitch as a 15-year-old, this Club made me feel at home.
“Wearing the number eight shirt and becoming the first player to reach 100 games for our A-League Women’s team are moments I will cherish forever.
“To the Red Army and every fan who has backed us week in and week out, your passion, chants, and loyalty are the heartbeat of this Club.
“I also want to thank the coaches, medical team, support staff, and my teammates, past and present, for believing in me, pushing me, and supporting me through every step of this journey.
“This isn’t a permanent goodbye, but rather a see you later. Thank you for everything, Adelaide.”
Adelaide United Chief Executive Officer, Nathan Kosmina, paid tribute to Condon’s outstanding contribution.
“Emily has been an outstanding servant of Adelaide United and an important figure in the history of our women’s program,” Kosmina said.
“She has been at the forefront of the evolution of the women’s game, helping drive change for the better through her performances, standards, and professionalism.
“While we are sad to see Emily go, we respect her decision to take on a new challenge and thank her sincerely for everything she has given to Adelaide United.
“She will always be part of the Adelaide United family.”
Adelaide United Football Director, Mitch van Gellekom, echoed Kosmina’s comments.
“Emily has been an incredibly important player for Adelaide United and someone who has represented this Club with pride for more than a decade, she became a true club legend.
“What stands out is not only what she has achieved, but the standards, professionalism and commitment she has shown throughout her time here, and we would have loved to continue that legacy in the upcoming years,” he said.
“For a young player to come into the Club at 15 and go on to play almost 150 games is something very special. She has been an important part of the growth of our women’s program and a great example for the next generation of South Australian players coming through.
“We fully respect Emily’s decision to take on a new challenge and she leaves with our appreciation for everything she has given to the Club. We wish her nothing but the best for what comes next,” van Gellekomconcluded.
