Attacking midfielder, Zach Clough, has recommitted to Adelaide United, signing a two-year contract extension that will see him remain with the club until at least the end of the 2025/26 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
Clough arrived in Adelaide in February 2022 and has become an important part of the Reds’ attack, scoring 11 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions.
The 28-year-old currently leads the A-League for score involvements with four goals to go with three assists in six games this season.
That tally includes a double scored in Monday night’s match against Macarthur.
Born in Manchester, Clough is a product of the Bolton Wanderers Academy and made his way to Adelaide after stints at various clubs across the United Kingdom, including Nottingham Forrest and Wigan Athletic.
“Ever since I arrived in Adelaide, I have felt welcome at the club and in the city — it’s a great place to live and to play football, and a great club with a style and culture that really suits me,” Clough said.
“We have a good mix of youth and experience in our squad and having come so close in the A-League last season, I know we have the ability to go all the way this time.
“I’m really grateful to Carl and the rest of the coaching staff for the opportunities they have given me, and I hope to repay them over the next couple of years.”
Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, was pleased to retain the Englishman.
“With the benefit of a full season and strong pre-season behind him, we’re now seeing Zach come into his own,” Veart said.
“He is a smart footballer and brings a lot of quality and experience to our squad.
“Importantly he is also not afraid to work hard and get his hands dirty, which sets a great example for some of our younger players.
“We’re pleased that Zach feels settled in Adelaide and looking forward to his ongoing contribution to our program.”
