Construction has begun on Adelaide United’s new training facility at Ridley Reserve with leading modular provider Ausco Modular this week turning the sod on the $700,000 project.
The Reds are expected to call the new training ground home by mid-September, with on-site work and construction only expected to take three months to complete.
Ausco Modular South Australia Business Development Manager Chris White said by using innovative construction methods they were able to slash construction timeframes to less than a third of the time of a traditional build without comprising the look and feel or quality of the building.
“Time is of the essence for this project and it’s our goal to get the team in here as soon as possible,” Mr White said.
“The new facility is a permanent design that is not intended to be taken down or moved – it is constructed to meet the same standards as a traditional build and will have the same lifespan.”
Mr White said his project team had worked with City of Playford to ensure the building design was tailored to the specific needs of the club and could become a comfortable, long-term home.
“We want to ensure the players feel a sense of ownership of the new club and its facilities,” he said.
“We’ve customised everything right down to the change rooms to ensure they’re not only modern and user-friendly but also reflect the look and feel the club wants to portray.
“Ausco has been operating locally for more than 50 years and we are very excited to be working on a project that means so much to the Elizabeth community.”
City of Playford Mayor, Glenn Docherty said it was truly fantastic to have Adelaide United Football Club based in Elizabeth.
“Adelaide United is a great community-based club that develops young people right across our community and cultivates their love of football,” Mr Docherty said.
“Today will see the start of two quality football pitches the same dimensions as Hindmarsh Stadium developed here at Ridley Reserve.”
“It will also see the club’s training and development centre being built with new change rooms and a medical suite.”
Adelaide United Chief Executive Michael Petrillo said he was extremely happy and pleased with the work Ausco had proposed.
“Through all the discussions we’ve had, they’ve gone above and beyond in helping us,” Mr Petrillo said.
“Everything will be to a high standard, from the layout of the offices to the finishes in the rooms.
“Having this brand new, dedicated training facility to call home will be an exciting development for the club and will help ensure our players are getting the best training environment possible.”
