Adelaide United can announce forward, Joshua Mori, has been added to Carl Veart’s squad as an injury replacement for Bernardo.
Bernardo underwent successful surgery on a fracture of his right fifth metatarsal last month, after sustaining the injury while on international duty with the Young Socceroos in San Pedro del Pinatar, Spain.
It’s expected for Bernardo to miss three months of competitive football.
Mori, who had previously been part of Adelaide United’s Youth Team and captained the squad, joins the Reds from South Australian National Premier League side, FK Beograd, where he scored 18 goals in 22 matches throughout the 2022 season. He has also been training with Veart’s squad for the last few weeks.
Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, said: “We’re very happy to have added Joshua to our squad.
“It is in some unfortunate circumstances, given the injury to Bernardo, however Joshua has been with us for a few weeks now and has been doing very well.
“After a very strong season in the NPL with FK Beograd, we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do for us at this level.”
Adelaide United can also announce Zach Clough will miss two months of football as a result of a quad injury. This was sustained prior to the team’s clash against Macarthur.
Meanwhile, Josh Cavallo has been, and will continue to be, unavailable in a competitive capacity due to an enlarged spleen. The Club’s medical team is closely monitoring Cavallo to ensure he is able to return to football as safely as possible.
The Club will support and aid in both Zach and Josh’s recovery and will continue to do so throughout Bernardo’s.
