Ryan Kitto was ecstatic after Adelaide United managed to secure a last-gasp 3-2 win over Sydney FC at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium on Tuesday night.
It was a record-breaking night for Craig Goodwin, who slotted a brace and became the Club’s all-time leading goal-scorer with his equalising header, before going on to dispatch a 95th minute winner.
“It’s a massive effort by the lads,” Kitto said to Paramount+ after United secured its first away victory over Sydney since April 2016.
“To come here, Sydney away, is a really tough game and we respect them massively as a team, obviously equal on points going into the game.
“So it was almost a six-pointer and for the boys to dig deep and win so late it’s massive for the Club.”
The 27-year-old, who made his return off the bench after a stint on the sidelines with Covid-19, said the squad’s aim is to finish the regular season as strongly as possible with three home matches.
“We definitely wanted the win so that’s a tick and now we’ve got three really important home games,” he said.
