United defeats Cobras in friendly

Adelaide United have beaten Adelaide Cobras 2-0 in a pre-season friendly at Weigall Oval on Thursday evening.

It was the second match the Reds have played in two days, Veart utilising the depth of his squad and a string of promising youth products to get valuable match minutes into players’ legs.

Trialist, Josh Mori, and youth player, Harry Crawford, scored the goals for Carl Veart’s men.

Following the match, Veart said: “It was our second hit-out this week, so it was good for some of the younger boys to get a run in pre-season.

“It’s hard to get games, but this gives us an idea of how players are travelling and their fitness levels.

“It was a tough night for us because it was wet and windy on a bit of a bumpy pitch.

“Cobras did a good job of pressuring us as well and they made it difficult for us throughout the 90 minutes.”

Goals:
13′ Mori — Ethan Alagich drives down the left flank and cuts it back for Josh Mori to tap in from the edge of the six-yard box.
67′ Crawford – A blocked shot dribbles out to Harry Crawford who blasts home from a tight angle.
